Organisation of the Revenue Department

 

The ‘Village’ constitutes the basic administrative unit in the Revenue Department. It is a local area which is recognised as in the land records as a village for purposes of revenue administration.  The state is divided into divisions and divisions into districts. The districts comprise taluks, each taluk consisting of Hoblis and each Hobli comprising of Villages.  Within a district, One or more taluks form a revenue sub-division. Mandya District is made up of 2 such sub-divisions namely Mandya and Pandavpura. The 7 taluks in Mandya come under these sub-divisions in the following way:

Hierarchy

 The Deputy Commissioner is the officer in charge of a district. The Assistant Commissioner  is placed in charge of a sub-division. The head of the taluk is designated ‘Tahsildar’. Each circle will be in charge of a Revenue Inspector and in a village or in a group of villages there will be a Village Accountant.

  2. Assistant Commissioner and Sub-divisional Officer’s office
  3. Tahsildar and Taluk Executive Magistrate’s office
