HOSABUDANURU
DirectionThree inscriptions are reported from this place, which is five kms from the taluk centre in Mandya. A record dated 1276 A.D. of Hoysala Narasimha III in the navaranga of the Anantapadmanabha temple (Keshava) registers the grant of forest area at Guttalu, jointly given by Sthanika Purushottamadeva of the Keshava deity at Guttalu alias Yadavanarayanapura and a certain Nambi Pillar to the Mahajans of Budanur alias Udbhava Sarvajna Padmanabhapura. As well as a separate grant was given for the amritapadi service for the god Keshava. There is a tall four-armed Keshava sculpture in the garbhagriha on a Garuda pedestal in Sthanaka posture. The temple has a beautiful dravidian shikhara and a projected Sukhanasi. A Jatra for the deity is held on the day of Anantha Chaturdashi. The temple is under the protection of the State Archaeology Department. The Kashi Vishwanatha temple is another Hoysala shrine in the locality, which resembles the plan of the Anantha Padmanabha temple.
